Cody's Story
|
"Since commencing my training with Guide Dogs, I have become more independent and confident in my personal and work life, which has also benefited my mental and physical health. These improvements make the challenge of living the rest of my life as a blind man, much easier to manage, and enable me to focus on positive life experiences." - Cody, Guide Dogs Client |

Karlee's Story

"Isla has truly opened up my world and given me the gift of independence that I had always dreamt of. Before I was matched with Isla, I felt very isolated and lacked the confidence to navigate my surroundings independently. I would rely on others to help me move through the community, which left me feeling really restricted. Since being matched with Isla, my life has changed in the most amazing way. Isla’s guidance has given me the freedom and confidence to navigate all types of dynamic environments independently, and she has supported me to pursue many opportunities that I once feared doing, including attending university and moving to a major city. Isla and I share such a deep level of communication between us that is like no other, and we have developed such a special bond and connection that I am forever grateful for." - Karlee, Guide Dogs Client |
Sora's Story
|
Sora was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Leber Congenital Amaurosis when she was just five months old. It means she can see shadows and some shapes, but struggles to discern detail and doesn’t always pick up on body language or social cues. One of our Orientation and Mobility Specialists has been working with Sora since she was a baby and has had the privilege of watching her grow, gain confidence and take on the world independently. “Without Guide Dogs, Sora wouldn’t have the independence she does today. I can’t thank donors enough for making this possible,” says Sora’s mum, Kanae. |
